I appreciate the thoughtful reply! I also agree the act of swiping for friends alone will not solve the problem. At Chorus, we’re building an entire culture that emphasizes accountability and humanity — seeing people as whole people, not just their profile avatars, like you said. This why we launched The Chorus, to share real, complicated stories not just dating “tips,” etc. and the motivation behind much of our community building.

I also agree some men lack friendships needed to do this. The stigma around adult male friendship is another thing we’re trying hard to address. We want to attract men who are open to being vulnerable and supporting each other; we want to foster and celebrate this kind of behavior. Again, this is not for everyone. If you’re a guy who cringes at the word vulnerability, and have no interest in the kind of friendship where friends really support each other — this is probably not your app! For many people, it is important that the people they date have real friends who they value and care for… far more important than knowing the five things said person can’t live without :)
